The homepage is used to present a range of content, encouraging the visitor to investigate further. High design values are employed to portray the Union appropriately.

  1. Select a championship: Present on all pages, this dropdown menu makes it easy for the visitor to access all championship information.
  2. Search: Comprehensive keyword match mechanism returns intelligent results.
  3. Branded masthead: Present on all pages and created to reflect the identity of the golfing organisation or club.
  4. Main navigation: Present on all pages. Provides links to all key site sections.
  5. News and forthcoming events: LGU staff are able to maintain the site themselves using our easy-to-use Content Management System (CMS).
  6. Latest scores feed: Provides up-to-the-minute championship information. The LGU Tournament Information Centre provides draws, entries, results and player statistics.
  7. LGU shop: Link to online shop, which integrates with the LGU accounts software (Sage).
  8. Curtis Cup 2008: External link to official Curtis Cup web site.
  9. Graphic links: Highlighting key sections within the site, such as the online championship entry facility and the e-news mailing list which allows interested visitors to sign up to receive email communications about the LGU.
  10. Page footer: Legal and policy statements and contact information - present on all pages.

"The web site has dramatically cut down administration but more importantly has made our championship entry process much more accessibile worldwide. It is interesting to note that in 2005, tournament entries overall rose by 10% and we believe this to be mainly down to our online system. We realistically expect over 90% of all entries next year to come through that route."
